Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:00pm
Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre

Horror, fantasy and thriller shorts produced by Northern filmmakers for the annual Yellowknife based genre film festival presented by the Artless Collective. DEAD NORTH is a short genre film-making festival that is open to all the good people freezing their faces off North of 60. Over the course of two months, filmmakers from the circumpolar world produce original films in some of the world’s coldest climates.

Max’s Multiplex (Whitehorse) Dir. by Andrew Seymour, DP+Editor Michael Code, Written, Starring and Produced by Gregory McLaughlin, lensed by Mike Code and shot in Carcross, this chillingly odd film won 3 awards at Dead North Film Festival in Yellowknife - Best Original Score, Best Actor, and Best Film! Max abandons his own reality in search of a new one.

Buyer Beware (Yellowknife) Dir. Michael Aubry, Matt Belliveau, Sarah Bradfield & Deneen Everett
Unsettling events interrupt a man’s attempt to pick up an item purchased on Yellowknife Classifieds.

sssssssSpace Hat (Yellowknife) Dir. Martin Rehak
An alien space hat crash lands on earth, and on an unsuspecting Squatter Joe’s head. Detective Harry is on the case and learning to tie his shoes. The only one who can analyze the data whilst remaining fabulous is Scientist Franz. We’ve got ourselves quite the basket of eggs.

Best Buds (Yellowknife) Dir. Marc Winkler
The friendship between two teenage boys breaks down as they attempt to conceal the remains of a grisly crime in a frozen lake.

Little Man (Yellowknife) Dir. Kayley Mackay
Life begins to spiral out of control as a small northern family is put to the test. Sometimes love isn’t all you need.

Through the Willows (Dawson City) Dir. Blair Douglas
A man falls victim to unknown forces trapping him in a frozen vortex of space and time.

The Raven (Yellowknife) Dir. Robin Young
This is the story of a northern town at the end of a very long road. This is the story of the many lost souls who come and go there. This is the story of Johnny McGrew and his pitiful ways. But mostly, this is the story of the raven - because the raven never leaves.
