Screens with: Otter Eye Dir. Allan Code, 2018, Yukon, 22 min
Otters are like little ghosts traveling above and beneath the ice between spots at lake outlets where upwelling warm water keeps ice from forming. Too wary to film even from blinds, long lenses and camera traps are used to capture an unobtrusive, intimate look at the world of otters. Their secret world is told through interviews with elder Art Johns, biologists Rene Rivard and Don Reid and the late elder, Ted Hall and through extraordinary camera trap footage courtesy Kim Melton and Rene Rivard who set them with precision and intuition informed by years of observation and study.  The documentary visits early winter whitefish runs to reveal never-before-recorded behaviour of wolf packs fishing like bears!
World premiere.

Director Allan Code in attendance.
