Programs Coordinator
Yukon Film Society - Whitehorse, Yukon

The Yukon Film Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to nourishing filmmakers and film lovers by committing to the following mandate:

1. To exhibit independent and alternative moving picture, audio and new media art works to Yukon audiences.
2. To support the production and distribution of Yukon independent moving picture, audio and new media art works.
3. To provide training, and access to production equipment for Yukon moving picture, audio and new media artists.

Responsibilities
Working under the supervision of the YFS Board of Directors and in collaboration with the Artistic Director, the Production Coordinator will implement the YFS’s artistic vision and strategy with regards to exhibition activities and creative programming. The Programs Coordinator will ensure that all productions and other programming are in line with the aims and policies of YFS and its mandate. The Employee will develop and maintain strong partnerships with funders and sponsors.

YFS Programming/Exhibition Activities
- ALFF Industry conference
- ALFF pitch event
- ALFF pitch prizes - film production
- Telefilm micro-budget recommendation program
- Yukon 48 Hour Film Challenge
- ALFF iTunes collection
- Develop distribution and dissemination activities of YFS
- YFS professional development workshops
- Jenni House Artist Studio Program- artist selection committee and O+M management
- Jenni House public programs
- Available Light Cinema (print traffic, technical staff, and marketing management)

Funding and Fundraising Activities
- Prepare grant applications for select projects and operational funding in cooperation with the Artistic Director and Arts Administrator
- Develop and sustain strong, supportive and respectful working relationships with ALFF sponsors
- Negotiate and prepare agreements with ALFF sponsors and funders, and submit reports and other information as required by the terms of the funding agreements
- Maintain and develop partnerships with other organizations.

Education, Experience and Skills
- Experience working in the film, cinema or media arts sector;
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word and Excel) and Mac computer
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- Proven organizational abilities;
- Proven ability to work positively and constructively with senior staff, funders, Board, staff and volunteers;
- Flexibility and adaptability to assist with new projects, challenges and technologies as they arise;
- Ability to take initiative and work in a self-directed manner;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); and
- Experience working in the non-profit sector is also an asset;
- Valid driver’s license an asset

Salary and Benefits
This is an 8-month term position until April 30, 2018, at $23 per hour, for an average of 30 hours per week. There is a strong possibility that this position will become permanent.
