Based on the best-selling children’s book, The Gruffalo’s Child tells the delightful tale of a little Gruffalo who ignores her father’s warnings and tiptoes out into the snow in search of the Big Bad Mouse. Featuring the voices of Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, John Hurt and Tom Wilkinson.

With the last of the arctic ice disappearing, a polar bear decides to try his luck finding a job in the big city.

Boogie Doodle Dir. Norman McLaren, Canada, 1941, 4 min
The “boogie” is played by Albert Ammons and the “doodle” is drawn by Norman McLaren: a rhythmic, brightly coloured film experiment.

Blackfly Dir. Christopher Hinton, Canada, 1991, 5 min
This animated film about the pesky blackfly in Northern Ontario is based on the song of the same title, written and sung by Canadian folk singer Wade Hemsworth, with the McGarrigle sisters.

Inspired by the song Moon Man Newfie, composed and sung by music legend Stompin’ Tom Connors, tells the story of folk hero Codfish Dan, who made history after a lucky fishing trip on the Milky Way.

The director of the much-loved classic The Cat Came Back strikes again with this hilarious Oscar-nominated animated short about a new addition to the family.
