Chi’igii is the word for caribou calf in the Gwitch’in language. This lovely puppet animation follows Chi’igii from the time she is a newborn to her first birthday in order to illustrate the challenges young caribou must face to survive in the Arctic. Director Kelly Milner in attendance.

Fresh from its premiere at the Banff Mountain Film Festival, Whitehorse-filmmaker Allan Code’s MEMORY TRAP: The Herd that Wouldn’t Disappear follows the Forty Mile Caribou Herd through the remote wilderness of North Yukon and Alaska, telling the story of how traditional knowledge and science saved the herd from near extinction.
