Canadian filmmaker, Jennifer Abbott discusses her process for writing and shaping story in documentary filmmaking. What does the 'writing' process look like in the development, production and post-production phases of the process. Known primarily for making essay films such as The Magnitude of All Things, The Corporation and The New Corporation, Jennifer will focus mainly on this type of documentary form.

Moderator: Dawson-based filmmaker, David Curtis (director of the feature documentary Sovereign Soil)

Jennifer Abbott is a Sundance and Genie award-winning filmmaker who has been making films about social, political, and environmental issues for 25 years. She is best known as one of the co-directors and editor of “The Corporation,” frequently described as the most successful documentary in Canadian history. The sequel The New Corporation: The Unfortunately Necessary Sequel had its premiere at TIFF 2020. We are delighted to have both The New Corporation and Jennifer's newest documentary film The Magnitude of All Things as part of our ALFF 2021 Festival lineup!
