Dive into the chaotic world of rights clearance and creative sourcing in this intermediate workshop, led by filmmaker and editor Omar Majeed. Using Disco’s Revenge—a documentary packed with over 40 licensed music cues and a rich mix of archival and present-day footage (screening Feb 9th at 9 PM)—as our case study, we’ll break down the dos and don’ts of securing music and archival materials while maintaining your sanity and your budget.
This workshop features a mix of insider tips, war stories, and hard-earned lessons from the trenches of licensing, plus smart strategies for filmmakers, producers, and creatives looking to navigate the mazes of archive and licensing without compromising artistic vision. We’ll also explore how graphics can seamlessly blend with archival footage, elevating your production without breaking the bank.
It’s everything you need to stay legally safe, creatively inspired, and production-ready—all in one jam-packed session!
Note: Please bring a laptop as we will do a group assignment.
