From master story teller, Guillermo del Toro, comes an other-worldly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1962. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins in another stand out performance) is trapped in a life of isolation. Elisa's life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment. Rounding out the cast are Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones and Michael Stuhlbarg. In English | American Sign Language | Russian | French with English subtitles PARENTAL GUIDANCE RECOMMENDED for mature subject matter. Nominated for 13 Academy Awards and 12 BAFTA Awards. "Much has been made of the film as a celebration of intersectionality, of people’s ability to disrupt the rigid divisions of race, sex and class through collective action. The Shape of Water adds the species barrier to this group of segregating factors, and in so doing folds in an even larger idea, namely good old-fashioned biophilia." Dorothy Woodend, The Tyee
