This screening took place on
Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 8:00pm
The Social House

Rogue-psychic Darryl Revok (Michael Ironside) violently murders a scientist during the pharmaceutical company ConSec's presentation of their new psycho-telepathic human weapons program - codenamed "scanners". In desperation, ConSec turns to Cameron Vale (Stephen Lack), an undisciplined but powerful scanner, to hunt down the killer. In search of Revok and his assassins, Vale journeys into an underground world where outcast scanners fight for their lives among those that fear them while others seek to use their powers to dominate... Scanners is a landmark Canadian genre film for its allegorical use of science-fiction and disturbing body horror, a trademark quality of director David Cronenberg, while featuring an unforgettably terrifying performance from Michael Ironside. “An oblique reflection on what might happen when the counterculture becomes the dominant culture" - Michael Pope, CineAction Admission by Donation + Free Popcorn
