Following up his ALFF 2019 cabaret performance, Whitehorse-based Indigenous musician Parkin will perform a composed electronic and guitar score as accompaniment to two archival films: the seminal 1960 NFB doc: Universe and a secret film that will be revealed on the night...

Jeremy Parkin is a Tutchone/Gwich’in electronic music producer born and raised in Whitehorse, YT. At the age of 11 his love of music began by learning to play the guitar. After moving into music production a few years later Jeremy has spent the majority of his time producing electronic music and hip hop. In 2017 he released his debut solo album titled "Black Dog" on Spotify and Apple Music. Jeremy utilizes everyday found sounds and samples to create a blend of ambient, lo-fi, instrumental hip hip and downtempo music.

Universe Dir. Roman Kroitor/Colin Low, 1960, CAN, 28min

A triumph of film art, creating on the screen a vast, awe-inspiring picture of the universe as it would appear to a voyager through space, this film was among the sources used by Stanley Kubrick in his 2001: A Space Odyssey.
