Join acclaimed filmmaker, writer, and actor Don McKellar for an in-depth conversation about celebrated career, from his groundbreaking debut Last Night to his role in the highly anticipated adaptation of The Sympathizer. This masterclass explores McKellar's unique voice in Canadian cinema, his creative process, and how he navigates the global stage while staying rooted in Canadian storytelling.  

Don McKellar is a versatile filmmaker, writer, actor, and director known for his innovative work in film, TV, and theatre. He co-founded Childs Play Theatre and the Augusta Company and made his mark in cinema with the screenplay for Roadkill (1989). His directorial debut, Last Night (1998), won the Prix de la Jeunesse at Cannes, and he later directed acclaimed projects like The Grand Seduction and TV series such as Michael: Tuesdays and Thursdays and Sensitive Skin. McKellar’s writing credits include Blindness, Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould, and The Red Violin, while his acting roles include Twitch City, Odd Job Jack, and Slings and Arrows. A Tony Award winner for co-writing The Drowsy Chaperone, McKellar continues to create, adapting The Sympathizer for HBO Max/Crave and developing new musicals.
