Workshop | Unconventional Filmmaking

This event took place on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026 at 4:00 pmThe Old Fire Hall

In this workshop, Métis filmmaker and visual artist Rhayne Vermette invites participants to rethink how films are made, written, and shaped through lived experience rather than industry convention. Drawing from her self-taught, community-rooted practice and by blending fiction, collage, animation, and analog experimentation, Vermette will explore making your first films within your means, unconventional approaches to screenwriting and structure, and forging a self-directed artistic path. This session is designed for filmmakers seeking a more intuitive and personal approach to cinematic storytelling.
