THE KEYS FOR THE 2024 YUKON 48 HOUR FILM CHALLENGE IS: !!DOG!!

Unleash your creative impulses and make a short movie - of any genre - over a weekend. Make it with friends. Or be a solitary auteur. YFS is here to help. We'll present some workshops in October to help you prepare for your production. Want a better looking iPhone production? We've got you. Want to step up your look and sound and shoot on a cinema camera? We've got you. And our cinema cameras, new sound gear, lighting and grip gear is all deeply discounted for Yukon48 registrants for those who want to up their production quality for their film.

 

The competition starts at 5:30pm on Friday, November 1st. Participants will be given 48 hours from the time of start to hand in or send a link to download a final file at 5:30pm on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024. Then gather your friends to see all the works created across the Territory  projected on the big screen on Friday November 8th.

To be eligible for the jury prizes, the challenge "key" must be used in the film will be revealed at the start of the Challenge. The “key” has to be incorporated into your film in any way (physically, verbally, etc). Participants outside the Whitehorse or Dawson area may participate and can privately upload their film to YouTube or Vimeo or send the links to us. We must have the link by the deadline on Sunday.

How to enter

Participants must pay an entry fee of $20 for the Yukon-Only and $25 for the Canada-Wide challenges. Youth entries (19 and under) are free. DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST AT 5PM

  • Once you have paid the entry fee below, you will be sent an email with the registration form. Please reply to the email with the completed entry form. If you would prefer to pay cash, please come to the YFS office at 212 Lambert st.
  • Send your completed registration form to tech@yukonfilmsociety.com.

Important Update: All entries are to either be sent to tech@yukonfilmsociety.com, or delivered on a hard drive to the YFS office at or before Sunday, November 3rd, 2024.

Note that the Yukon Film Society and Klondike Institute of Arts and Culture are not liable for any injuries or damages that may occur while participating in the Yukon 48 Hour Film Challenge. 

Prizes

One main prize of $150, and up to four honourable mention prizes of $100 will be awarded to winners.
