ALFF 2022 Festival Programming Coordinator contract - call for applicants

The Yukon Film Society is hiring contractors for the 20th anniversary Available Light Film Festival (Feb 4 to 12, 2022).

First up in our hiring is a critical role on the film programming team! Do you love watching hours and hours of films from the world over, selecting the ones that will generate the most excitement for ALFF audiences and enjoy hosting discussions and Q&As with filmmakers and media artists? Festival Programming Coordinator:

Proposed value of this contract position: $8000 TBC

Beginning in October, the Festival Programming Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Artistic Director and Associate Programmer to organize and coordinate programming for ALFF 2022. The work is a commitment of 250-300 hours and tasks include:

  • Develop topics, themes, and specific content for in-person and online film programming, presentations, panel discussions, film talks 
  • Manage and coordinate all film submissions on Zone Festival and FilmFreeway
  • Coordinate access to films, feedback system and two meetings with Programming Advisory Committee
  • Coordinate regular programming meetings with programming team
  • Deliver, as part of the team, all approved and agreed upon ALFF film programming
  • In collaboration with the Artistic Director and ALFF Producer, oversee the coordination of travel and accommodation logistics for ALFF guests connected with film programming 
  • Assist Artistic Director and Associate Programmer in negotiating terms and screening fees with distributors and filmmakers
  • Coordinate with Artistic Director and Administrator proper filing for related contracts and payments
  • Assist the ALFF team with promotion and publicity of ALFF and Industry events
  • Assist the ALFF production and marketing team with media liaison with film guests
  • Help collect anecdotal and statistical data for post-festival reports for funders and sponsors
  • Act as a spokesperson for the Society and ensure that all communications to the public reflect the Society’s mission and values.  
  • Other necessary tasks as agreed upon with YFS senior staff
