YUKON FILM SOCIETY – SUMMER STUDENT OPPORTUNITY Job Title: Technical & Production Assistant Term: June 13 – August 12 (9 weeks) - *Flexible dates Rate: $15/hr for 30 hours per week + 4% vacation pay CLOSING DATE: Friday, May 20, 2016 Tasks & Responsibilities • assist with logistical planning, technical set-up and digital projection for film screenings at Atlin Arts & Music Festival • assist with coordination of public artist talks at Atlin Arts & Music Festival • assist with logistical planning, technical set-up and projection for free screenings of films at Adäka Cultural Festival • assist with print traffic coordination for screenings at Atlin Arts & Music Festival and Adäka Cultural Festival • assist with promotion and community outreach related to screenings at Atlin Arts & Music Festival and Adäka Cultural Festival • assist with coordination of Jenni House Artist Residency program: o prepare Jenni House for arrival of artists o serve as liaison between visiting artists and YFS staff o assist visiting artists in sourcing any tools, equipment, and/or materials necessary for the creation of new art works o assist with coordination and promotion of open studio events o research history of Jenni House (Pioneer Hotel #1 circa 1898) and prepare an information sheet for visiting artists and general public Administration • assist with management of YFS filmmaking equipment rentals to Yukon media artists, including assessing clients needs, booking rentals, checking gear in and out, ensuring gear is lent and returned in good working order, processing payments and reporting any issues or damage to YFS staff • assess and catalogue YFS 16mm film library • coordinate relocation and accessible storage of YFS 16mm film library • participate in weekly staff meetings, contributing feedback on YFS programming, progress of on-going projects, successes and challenges Must be 15 years of age or older and have attended school full-time in 2015-16.
