A chilling and gorgeous epic from a pre-eminent art-house film director
working in China, A Touch of Sin illuminates the individual experiences of
four people living in contemporary China: an economic giant slowly being
eroded by violence. An angry miner revolts against the corruption of his
village leaders, a migrant worker visiting home for the New Year discovers
the infinite possibilities a firearm can offer. A young receptionist who dates
a married man and works at a sauna is pushed to the limit when a rich client
assaults her, and a young factory worker goes from one discouraging job to
the next, only to face increasingly degrading circumstances. Winner of the
Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Screenplay, 2013. In Mandarin with English subtitles.
