Ammonite

This screening took place on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 5:30 pmYukon Arts Centre

One screening only!

The new romantic drama film written and directed by God's Own Country director, Francis Lee. The film is loosely inspired by the life of British palaeontologist Mary Anning, played by Kate Winslet, and centres on a romantic relationship between Anning and Charlotte Murchison, played by Saoirse Ronan.

Mary, a paleontologist, works alone selling common fossils to tourists. A chance job offer changes Mary's life when a visitor hires her to care for his wife.

"The contained, potent performance is one of Winslet's best." - Caryn James, BBC.com

"Ammonite is a passionate love story nourished by the salty sea air and the blissful absence of men; it's also a sharp reflection on how the artistic, scientific and intellectual contributions of women have been systematically written out of history." - Justin Chang, Los Angles Times
