Three elderly hermits live deep in the woods, cut off from the rest of the world. While wildfires threaten the region, their quiet life is about to be shaken by the arrival of two women... A luminous older woman unjustly institutionalized her whole life, and a young photographer charged with interviewing survivors of the region’s deadliest forest fire. After the death of the eldest hermit, the two women make an astonishing discovery: hundreds of paintings echoing his tragic experience related to that devastating fire.  A story of intertwined destinies, where love can happen at any age.

Trois vieux ermites vivent dans les bois. Alors que la région est menacée par des feux de forêt, leur vie tranquille va être chamboulée par l'arrivée de deux femmes. Une histoire de destins qui s'entrecroisent, et qui nous rappelle que l'amour peut arriver à tout âge. Tom (Rémy Girard), Charlie (Gilbert Sicotte), et Ted (Kenneth Welsh) vivent en marge d'une société pour laquelle ils n'existent plus. Ils assurent leur survie dans la nature en vendant de l'herbe aux locaux, avec l'aide de l'hôtelier Stephen (Éric Robidoux). Une réflexion poignante sur la possibilité de vivre en dehors de la modernité, une ode au besoin de vivre librement et selon ses propres règles. Emmené par un casting de grands acteurs québecois, le film nous offre un des plus beau moment musical de l'année lorsque Tom le musicien malade (Girard), invité à jouer sur une scène locale, livre une brillante et émouvante interprétation d'un morceau emblématique de Tom Waits.
