Castle in the Sky is a timeless story of courage and friendship, with stunning animation from acclaimed Academy Award-winning director Hayao Miyazaki.

A young girl with a mysterious crystal pendant falls out of the sky and into the arms and life of young Pazu. Together they search for a floating island in the sky, site of a long-dead civilization promising enormous wealth and power to those who can unlock its secrets. Studio Ghibli's first film: Castle in the Sky is an early masterpiece of storytelling and filmmaking whose imaginative and ornately detailed vision presaged later films like Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. The English dubbed version features the voice talents of James Van Der Beek, Mark Hamill and Anna Paquin.

Parental guide from Common Sense Media: "Parents need to know that Castle in the Sky is a film where cartoon violence and peril are fairly regular and sometimes intense in this spectacle, with abundant street brawling, gunfire (often aimed at children), artillery, death rays, even what looks like an H-bomb. Despite all that, no dead bodies are shown. Sheeta and Pazu are both perceptive, plucky kids who model courage and teamwork."
