Born and raised in Attawapiskat, Shannen Koostachin experienced first hand the profound challenges of trying to learn in toxic buildings with vastly limited educational resources. In her latest documentary, Obomsawin frames shocking issues surrounding the rights of Indigenous children around the inspirational story of Shannen, a Cree teenager who became a powerful activist who had a dream: that all children in Canada deserve fair access to education in safe and well-equipped schools.
