Northwestern BC is to British Columbia what the Yukon is to Canada: a predominately wild land in an increasingly industrialized landscape. KONELÎNE: our land beautiful is a gorgeously photographed cinematic poem to people's relationship to The Land in Tahltan country and their reflections on the industrial developments taking place in the region. There is a range of disparate views expressed in this measured documentary and Wild does a remarkable job letting people speak for themselves with powerful clarity: from Tahltan linguist and activist Oscar Dennis who feels he is no longer welcome in his ancestral home, to technicians installing high-voltage power line and towers along the Stewart-Cassiar highway, to big-game outfitters in Telegraph Creek, to geologists and exploration crews at the Bruce Jack gold deposit. The ideas and feelings expressed in KONELÎNE will sound familiar to Yukoners, however Wild paints a picture that puts a fresh perspective on our relationship to The Land.
