Take the Wild Krista Davis & Cari Tangedal, 2016, YT, 7min This experimental work uses the metaphor of ‘the wild’ as an older, wiser lover who encourages us to let go of the structures and expectations of the city. Winner of the 2015 Yukon48 audience award starring the long lost Yukon music maven, Andrew Stratis. Fish out of Water Kirsten Carthew, 2016, NWT, 9min Deep in the heart of an environmental wasteland, a lone woman fishes for food and catches more than she can manage. Cast Iron Staffen, Sussin, McCarthy, Elliot, 2016, YT, 5min A misunderstanding leads a snowmobile ride through the northern wilderness and a simple evening out at the cabin to bloodshed. Kajutaijuq: The Spirit that Comes Scott Brachmayer, 2016, NU, 15min A hunter in the Arctic tries to live by the traditional skills his grandfather taught him — but these lessons are difficult for a modern man to apply, and the price of failure can be costly.
