NORTHLORE  is a one-hour hybrid documentary blending animation and live action to showcase awe-inspiring tales of magical realism from five storytellers living in one of the wildest parts of the world - The Yukon!

Told through an interwoven multi-narrative, these life changing stories exemplify the interdependence between humans, animals and nature, and how we are all connected. Embark on a unique journey through different seasons and time periods where nature’s untameable power is the catalyst for spiritual awakenings, and how magic is not too distant if you’re willing to listen. Celebrating the traditions of oral storytelling and building upon the past, the film shares modern legends for a new generation, passing down lessons that will reframe the lore of the north. They go thrifting, peruse the hardware store and devote time to their shared hobby of building—and renovating—dollhouses. Saturday is delightful tribute to filmmaker Jessica Hall’s sister and mother, chronicling their journey as Katherine navigates life with an intellectual disability. Shot in Whitehorse, the short documentary weaves in family movies of Katherine’s childhood, family gatherings and their immigration to Canada, celebrating her independent and creative life. WORLD PREMIERE!
