It's been a terrific year for comedy filmmaking in BC. Hitting her middle-aged stride in the TV acting biz and becoming a new parent took a little wind out Vancouver's Sonja Bennett (Battlestar Galactica, Cold Squad, Young People F%&*^) so she decided to make her own work by writing a comedy about a woman that could play. Ruth is a 35-year-old single woman - a bit of a hard-partying fuck up who still lives in her father's basement and works at the local grocery store - who falsely claims to be pregnant in order to deflect her friends' and family's mounting disapproval of her directionless, irresponsible lifestyle. Although she initially tries to come clean, the many perks of pregnancy are far too seductive to ignore. Jacob Tierney (The Trotsky) directs this exceptional cast in a very funny and unconventional comedy about our societal obsession with motherhood and the lengths we’ll go to be part of a club. Co-starring James Caan (The Godfather) and Danny Trejo (Sons of Anarchy).  Winner Most Popular Canadian Film at VIFF 2014 Producer Kevin Eastwood in attendance.
