A Romcom for National Canadian Film Week!

Bullied at work by his oafish boss and humiliated at home where he lives below his ex and her new beau, Damon (Orphan Black scene-stealer Kristian Bruun) can’t help but feel like the butt of a cosmic joke. What better solution then than to leave this world behind and apply for a one-way televised mission to Mars? Of course, complications arise when Phoebe (Empire of Dirt’s Cara Gee), the free-spirited musician who lured him like a siren into this cockamamie scheme, gives him cause to stick around Earth. Writer/director Shane Belcourt’s high-concept romantic-comedy gem soars thanks to the charms of these complementary misfits. An endearing follow-up to Belcourt’s award-winning 2007 debut TKARONTO, RED ROVER is a welcome reminder of the surprising pathways that may open up when we feel like we couldn’t be more stuck.
