On Friday, December 3, 1954, the Yukon Theatre opened its doors to the public with a screening of The Glenn Miller Story, the very first film to play on this historic cinema screen!

Biography of bandleader Glenn Miller from his beginnings to his death over the English Channel in December 1944.

Preceded by the short film:

Don't Bring Lulu, dir. Lulu Keating, 2023, 4 MIN

The invitation to the party comes with a stipulation: don`t bring Lulu. However, Lulu has ideas of her own.The film is based on the 1920’s song about flappers who broke with Victorian era social restrictions, and smoked, drank, had sex and partied. What happened that this brief burst of independence was lost in the move towards women’s equality? The film celebrates this short burst of freedom and reflects on centuries of struggle for women to be able to do as they wish.

Screening as part of our 70 Years of Yukon Cinema celebration!

The Technicolor is of irreproachable quality and the acting -- bringing together James Stewart and June Allyson -- is excellent. - Francois Truffaut, Arts France
