This macabre black comedy is set in Glasgow, where Barney (Robert Carlyle) is an awkward barber who lives a life of desperate mediocrity. When a heated argument with his boss results in an accidental death, Barney unwittingly enters the grotesque and comically absurd world of a serial killer. Barney turns to his bingo-loving mother Cemolina (Emma Thompson) for help. This film is based on the first novel,
The Long Midnight of Barney Thomson, of the wildly popular series of novels and novellas by Douglas Lindsay. In this special pre-Available Light Film Festival presentation, Yukon audiences get to see The Legend of Barney Thomson before it’s theatrical release in Canada.
Parental guidance advised: this film includes graphic comic violence, body parts and endless Glaswegian swearing.
