The Sanctity of Space

Climbers/filmmakers Renan Ozturk (Meru and Sherpa) and Freddie Wilkinson retrace the steps of pioneering mountaineer and aerial photographer Bradford Washburn who undertook many first climbs of peaks in the Alaska Range and the St Elias Range, including Canada’s third highest peak, Mount Lucania in 1937.

Inspired by Washburn's iconic images of Alaska, Ozturk and Wilkinson attempt the unprecedented traverse of the Mooses Tooth massif in Denali National Park. This stunning alpine documentary must be seen on the big screen of the Yukon Arts Centre.
 

While the juxtaposition of different timelines results in occasional clunkiness, the breathtaking cinematography more than makes up for the uneven telling. - Phuong Le, Guardian
