As epicurean as French haute cuisine, The Taste of Things indulges our palates with an exquisite seven-course love story for the soul.

From the notable director of the stunning Vietnamese films, The Scent of Green Papayas (1993) and Cyclo (1995), Anh Hung Tran transports us to provincial France for his latest sensorial picture that is sure to delight foodies and romantics alike.

The talented cook Eugenie (Juliette Binoche) has worked for the preeminent gourmet Dodin (Benoît Magimel) for the last two decades. Their mutual admiration turns into a romance, which gives rise to the creation of several new dishes–each more delicious than the last–confounding even the world’s most illustrious chefs. But Eugenie is fond of her freedom and has never wanted to marry Dodin, so he decides to do something he has never done before: cook for her.

In French with English subtitles.

Genre: Period drama, romance.
