"Greenland meets the past, present and future in this journey of discovery by Navarana, an Inuit elder from Uummannaq—the most northern and isolated district of Greenland—as she looks for answers to the modern-day changes affecting all Arctic peoples.
In the 1860s, Navarana’s ancestor Qitdlarssuag, a shaman from Baffin Island, Canada, embarked on a legendary journey, leading an Inuit migration to Greenland. Over 150 years later, Navarana travels to her ancestral homeland to connect with her distant Canadian cousins. Accompanying families from both Greenland and Canada on their annual hunting trips, Navarana discovers divergent strategies for survival—including motorboats instead of kayaks and guns in place of harpoons.
Vanishing Point is both Navarana’s journey and the journey of many other Inuit people as they look for answers to their threatened societies in times of social and environmental upheaval."
