Deepa Mehta's Oscar- nominated drama is a beauitful and poignenent work that is the director's high watermark in her still vibrant career. Water was a highlight at the 2006 Available Light Film Festival with producer David Hamilton in attendance, marking his return to Whitehorse for the first time since his formative years spent growing up in Hillcrest!

Set in colonial India against Gandhi's rise to power, it's the story of 8-year-old Chuyia, who is widowed and sent to a home to live in penitence; once there, Chuyia's feisty presence deeply affects the lives of the other residents (Seema Biswas, Lisa Ray).

In Hindi and English with English EST.

Recommended for ages 12+ for mature themes.
