Available Light Film Festival (ALFF) Industry 2022 lineup and ALFF Creator Talks with Danis Goulet, Zacharias Kunuk, Jeremy Podeswa and more

February 9, 2022

The Yukon Films Society (YFS) announces the ALFF Industry 2022 series lineup. This year’s sessions include ALFF Creator Talks with Night Raiders writer/director, Danis Goulet; Inuit filmmaking legend, Zacharias Kunuk (Atanarjuat, The Fast Runner); and Station Eleven director and executive producer, Jeremy Podeswa.

Podesewa is a renowned Canadian film and television director and we’re honoured to have him at our festival. His work includes some of the most acclaimed dramatic series on TV: Six Feet Under; Boardwalk Empire; Game of Thrones; and Handmaid’s Tale.

“Year over year, our ALFF Industry series continues to grow. We’re so excited to host sessions with inspirational filmmakers, podcasters, distribution decision-makers and representatives from funding and diversity supporting organizations, like Indigenous Screen Office and WarnerMedia Access,” says Andrew Connors, Festival Director. “We recently added a session with Jeremy Podesewa. His latest show, Station Eleven, is a brilliant expression of the current collective ennui and tragedy we are grappling with as humans on an earth we’ve irreversibly altered. I’m really looking forward to all the ALFF Industry sessions and panel discussions"

A series highlight will be the 8th annual ALFF Pitch Event on February 16 at 7 p.m. where six Yukon filmmaking teams pitch to a jury of industry decision-makers for a chance to win the ALFF Pitch Prize: $7,500 cash and $5,000 in in-kind services and equipment rental toward the making of their short film courtesy: Northwestel Community Television, Screen Production Yukon Association, Whispering Willows Records and Yukon Film Society.

The ALFF Industry series focuses on connecting industry leaders and decision-makers from across Canada and abroad with filmmakers and content producers in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and British Columbia. Many of the sessions are pay what you can, making it accessible to any Northerner curious about film and media production or networking with industry, including WarnerMedia Access.
