“We’re extremely honoured that Nettie has chosen to debut her film here in Whitehorse,” says Festival Director Andrew Connors. “Not only is Nettie one of Canada’s most respected documentary filmmakers, but her new film speaks eloquently about the experience of living in the North, where there’s such a strong connection to the land. It’s a beautiful film, and the perfect way to kick-off Canada’s largest Northern film festival.”Perfectly timed for the 2016 Yukon Quest, ALFF has secured Greg Kohs’ highly anticipated documentary about champion dog-sled racer Lance Mackey to close this year’s festival. THE GREAT ALONE is an immensely powerful film that chronicles Mackey’s inspiring comeback from a 2001 cancer diagnosis – Mackey became the first person to win both the Iditarod and Yukon Quest in the same year, a feat he repeated the following year for good measure.
